BlackChat: Overcoming the Odds with Michael Watson
February 26 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm£5
Join us for an evening with former professional boxer Michael Watson, as he shares his experiences bouncing back from adversity, and turning defeat into victory.
Michael Watson rose to prominence as the Commonwealth middleweight title holder from 1989 to 1991 before his boxing career was tragically cut short by life-threatening brain injuries received during a title fight with Chris Eubank in 1991. Michael reflects on the fight he has made both in and outside the boxing ring. In 2003, Michael completed the London Marathon, walking two hours each morning and afternoon for six days, he was awarded the MBE in 2004 for his services to disability sport.
This event is part of BlackChat, a forum to exchange ideas and issues affecting Black communities, and Archiving the Past, Reflecting the Future which seeks to document and share the contribution of the African and African Caribbean community to British history. Everyone is invited to be part of the conversation.
