Gemma Clarke Project Researcher

Gemma Clarke is Serendipity’s Project Researcher for the Lost Legends 30 years of BHM in Leicester supported by heritage lottery fund and Leicester City Council. Key aims will be to celebrate and record the achievements and contributions of Leicester’s African and African Caribbean community, culminating in an exhibition, website and digital directory. A recent graduate from Sheffield Hallam University, Gemma studied BA History and has varied experience volunteering in communities across the country and a passion for history and local heritage. These include the Gainsborough Heritage Centre, Lincoln Castle, Sturton-By-Stow village history society and the Lincolnshire Remembrance project as well as the Our Broomhall heritage project based at the Broomhall Community Centre in Sheffield, Museums Sheffield, the Virtual Reality Prosthetics Project: Body and Mind based at Sheffield Hallam University and much more. These varied experiences include writing publicity materials and organising a radio show, oral history recording, working in the archives, web editing, writing and researching stories, working with children and creating activities, creating exhibition panels and working with the community as well as enhancing visitor experiences to heritage sites.
